ACS received the first ever D'ucoty Award on Product Innovation for smart card readers in the Southeast Asian region during CardEx Asia 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Co-founded by Frost & Sullivan and CardsNow!Asia magazine, the D'ucoty Awards aimed to recognize companies and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding performance in the cards industry across the Asia Pacific region.
Another branch office was established in Shenzhen, China to strengthen ACS’s research and development resources and extend its market reach to mainland China.
The Government of Belgium initiated a national e-ID card system and selected ACS and its partner to supply more than 100,000 units of the ACR38 PC-Linked Smart Card Reader during the project’s initial rollout on October 2005. Belgian citizens aged 12 and up were able to obtain free identity card readers by logging onto a specific website built specifically for the e-ID program.
ACS was awarded two tenders to supply over 60,000 units of the ACR38 PC-Linked Smart Card Reader to the Hong Kong Post to support the Hong Kong smart ID e-cert program.
